“Trauma is not just an event that took place sometime in the past; it is also the imprint left by that experience on the mind, brain, and body.”
Bessel van der Kolk
When life feels overwhelming, it can leave more than just memories behind. Trauma reshapes the way you think, feel, and move through the world. Maybe you notice yourself feeling on edge, disconnected, or caught in cycles of overworking or withdrawing. Maybe the past still intrudes into your present, even when you try to push it away. Healing from trauma isn’t about erasing what happened — it’s about reclaiming your sense of safety, balance, and possibility.
Trauma doesn’t look the same for everyone. What feels manageable to one person can feel unbearable to another, and there’s no “right” or “wrong” way to respond. What matters most is how the experience is affecting you today — in your body, your relationships, your work, and your ability to feel present in your life.

Treatment for trauma
“Being able to feel safe with other people is probably the single most important aspect of mental health; safe connections are fundamental to meaningful and satisfying lives.”
Bessel van der Kolk
Healing from trauma requires more than talking about what happened — it involves reconnecting with yourself on every level. In our work together, I draw on evidence-based and body-centered practices to support safety, regulation, and integration:
- Somatic & Sensorimotor Psychotherapy – Body-focused therapies that release stored tension and restore a sense of safety.
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) – An evidence-based approach to help process painful memories so they feel less overwhelming.
- Polyvagal-Informed Practices & The Safe and Sound Protocol – Approaches designed to calm the nervous system and reduce hypervigilance.
- Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga – A gentle, movement-based practice that allows healing through the body when words aren’t enough.
- Internal Family Systems (IFS) – A way of exploring and healing the “parts” of yourself shaped by trauma, building balance and self-compassion.
- Mindfulness-Based Strategies – Tools for staying present, regulating emotions, and building resilience in everyday life.
Together, we’ll choose the methods that feel safe and supportive for you. Trauma therapy is not about re-living your pain — it’s about creating space for relief, balance, and hope.
